Forever Dog Presents: Kevin McDonald’s Rock Opera! The year is 1991. Kevin is living in Toronto working on a small little HBO show called Kids In The Hall. He’s also in a toxic relationship with a woman named Cheater, who regularly cheats on him. But Kevin is aware of this devastating truth and does what any logical person would do in this situation: he asks Cheater to marry him (9:01). Dave Foley, future star of A Bugs Life (played by Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard), pleads with Kevin to not marry Cheater (13:00). Meanwhile, a Texas producer hired by Lorne Michaels books Kevin & Dave on the Joan Rivers Show (15:30), whisking him away to the Big Apple just before Cheater says they shouldn’t get married (16:55). Kevin is despondent, but Dave drags him out of bed for a raucous night on the town (20:47) — a night that involves copious amounts of alcohol, an AIDS benefit, more cheating, and an ambiguous moral (22:30). That might not mean anything to you, but trust me -- Art Fiddle is a big get! After putting some of his patented "unpublished author, part-time lifeguard spin" on the show's opening, Kevin explains what it means to make a living as a "noise maker." He then performs an original song that eulogizes all of his dead comedy premises, accompanied by musical guest, 5j Barrow. Sasheer Zamata joins Kevin for an original #sketch and then sits down for an interview about the #Trekkie origins of her name, her experience on #SNL, "Government Camp" in Indiana, being a Celebrity Ambassador for the Women's Rights Project at the #ACLU, and oh so much more! Embarrassing... Kevin can't even get his own beloved sketch "Backdraft Part 2" performed past the objections of his guests, friends, and guardian angel. Are the walls closing in? Nah..... In place of the sketch, Kevin loses himself in a reflective moment, standing on stage before a sell out crowd, wearing a plastic firefighter's helmet. Live from Union Hall in Brooklyn! The producers of “Kevin McDonald’s Kevin McDonald Show” take over because of Kevin’s failure to attract a broad commercial podcast audience (:40). A well-travelled socialite (Brian McCann), also named Kevin McDonald, is installed as the show’s new announcer, making Kevin suspicious (4:13). Is he being replaced? Then, Kevin performs a song (8:20) and is forced to read three chapters from his “scandalous tell-all” he didn’t write (11:10). Later, TJ Miller joins Kevin in a new sketch about a father’s determination to build the best Haunted House in the neighborhood (also featuring Jo Firestone, Sarah Heveron-Smith, Andrew Block) (16:38).
