It was then that British Major Ferguson, hoping to finally squelch American resistance for good- made his threat against the frontiersmen who occupied the western and frontier borders- and these men decided they had had enough of the British. In 1919, 8 Chicago White Sox players either participated directly in or failed to report a plan to sabotage the best of 8 World Series games against the Cincinnati Reds for profit.. The Reds won 5 games to 4 and the matter seemed to drop- until the following season,when a grand jury was convened to get to the truth. One of the gamblers involved testified,and some of the players admitted they had been in on the plot. One of the best players on the team, Shoeless Joe Jackson, ,who had played perfectly throughout the series, was named in the scandal and paid for it by being from pro baseball for the rest of his life. The Oak Island Money Pit- definitely one of North America's greatest unsolved mysteries and the subject of a long running show on The History Channel- is said to contain a treasure of unknown magnitude- but what that treasure is made up of is uncertain. A few things are certain- the money pit, which is 130 feet deep, is deadly,and has taken 6 lives so far without giving anyone solid answers. Efforts to excavate the pit and subsequent parallel pits and tunnels have provided disastrous results as the pits fill with salt water and become deadly traps. Artifacts are being found- ancient miners axes and helmets, Roman crosses, pieces of parchment from Elizabethan times, small idols, a Portuguese coin, and evidence of sophisticated beach rebuilding for the purpose of installing vents leading toward the pit that was first discovered by boys in 1795. THE OAK ISLAND MYSTERY (PT 1) FINDING THE MONEY PIT

On October 25, 1944, through a series of naval movements, a small 13 ship destroyer task force found itself the only thing between a huge 23 ship Japanese battle fleet and the American landing force attempting to free the Japanese held Philippine Islands. When the choice came to run south, one destroyer commander named Ernest Evans,a Cherokee Indian who had joined to fight, charged the entire Japanese fleet alone, guns blazing and torpedoes firing, while the crew of largest battleship in the world, the Yamato, watched in stunned amazement.
